What motivates you in the morning?

The idea that there is some kind of magical, one-of-a-kind light happening at sunrise. I love sunrises, because there is such a small window to take advantage of the amazing atmosphere.

What is your mantra for when things are tough?

When things get tough, it’s time to dig in! My best experiences have been when I have to suffer the most to get a shot.

If you could do anything else, what would it be and why?

I wish I was smart enough to be an Astronaut! I can only imagine how amazing it is to experience looking down on the planet (and photographing it)!

Describe your best moment ever.

My best moment ever was the birth of my children. Professionally, it was flying up at 27,000 feet, looking down through glass at the Atlantic Ocean below, amazed that I am able to experience these things.

How did you get into your profession?

My father was a photographer and he planted those early thoughts that this was something I would love.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?

To surround yourself with people who are smarter and more creative than yourself, and to be a sponge. Never stop learning.

What are your top three Pelican products?

The Pelican S115 Sport Backpack has been clutch for a variety of situations. I’ll throw around different configurations depending on the job, but what stays constant is the truly armored protection for my laptop. The 1730 Protector is also key for keeping everything from cameras to lenses and audio gear snug and secure. Lastly, I’m a big fan of the card cases. I have a fleet of SD, CF, and CFast cards that need something safe from drops as well as the elements. I enjoy working in wet weather, so having that extra protection is a must.
