Pelican™ Launches a New In-House Testing and Evaluation Centre in Victoria, Australia
Published September 9, 2024
Torrance, CA -
Pelican™ Australia has strengthened its reputation as an industry leader in the protective cases market by launching a dedicated in-house testing and evaluation facility in Knoxfield.
The Pelican Test and Evaluation Centre (PTEC) will enhance Pelican’s existing world-leading design and manufacturing capabilities to deliver a true end-to-end service to a diverse range of customers by integrating testing and certification within manufacturing operations. The PTEC will help the company adapt and respond faster to customer needs and evolving market demands.
“Pelican™ is dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable protective cases that meet the rigorous demands of military, industrial, and commercial applications. Our main goal for the new facility is to ensure that every case meets the highest durability and performance standards through comprehensive climatic, vibration, and drop testing. This capability allows us to certify compliance with stringent government standards while advancing innovation and elevating product quality” says Pelican™ Australia’s Managing Director, Wayne Pannell.
The new centre includes:
- Integrated Testing Capabilities with environmental, shock, vibration, and drop testing conducted under one roof.
- Customised Protocols with tailored testing and access to experts in case design, manufacturing and quality, all at the testing site.
- On-site Compliance Certifications in line with government standards, reducing the costs and time associated with inspections at third-party facilities.
- Advanced Environmental Simulation allowing for rigorous testing under extreme conditions to ensure product durability and reliability.
- Real-Time Data Analytics providing immediate feedback and on-the-spot adjustments, with continuous testing under the guidance of on-site subject matter experts.
- Secure Testing Environment located within Pelican’s manufacturing facility, safeguarding sensitive information and intellectual property.
- Collaborative Hub for Pelican’s engineers, designers, production team and customers to support continuous improvement and development of innovative solutions.
- Test Capability that allows separate and integrated testing of client equipment and case to evaluate the entire operational cycle of equipment, from storage to transportation to usage in the field.
- Internal Testing of new Pelican products throughout the design phase and before launch, ensuring compliance and durability standards.
- Testing Support for established, third-party testing companies when their testing range is exceeded.
Pelican’s™ Sales Manager - Engineered Solutions, Justin Evans says feedback from clients who have visited the PTEC has been very supportive of this initiative, highlighting the essential role test and evaluation plays across the capability life cycle, not only for the military but also for industrial and commercial industries.
“Our independently funded investment in PTEC supports one of seven of Australia’s Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities (SDIPs) around test, evaluation, certification and systems assurance. As stated by the Defence Industry Development Strategy, ‘test and evaluation plays a critical role across all elements of the capability life cycle. Its role is to assure that capabilities are safe and operationally viable through the provision of objective evidence to quantify the risk of new technologies, concepts or capabilities on warfighting operations’. Through the PTEC, we believe that PelicanTM is strategically positioned to help the military and related industries deliver on this key priority.”
“We’re currently conducting Pelican Capability Tours of the new facility and invite our existing and prospective clients, as well as industry bodies to visit the centre and experience our Australian development and manufacturing capabilities first-hand.”
“These tours are highly valuable in helping clients to become better informed and provide professional development opportunities. Specifically, for those involved in the end use, deployment, through life support or development of mission-critical systems or high-value equipment. We invite those interested in acquisition, sustainment or use of high-performance packaging solutions to visit our Knoxfield facility.”
