At Pelican Products, we have already distinguished our company for excellence in product development and as a leading manufacturer of multi-use products. We create durable, reliable products that last a lifetime, thereby reducing our ecological impact. We have taken significant steps to enhance our sustainability practices and policies, and are working diligently to do more.
We have implemented numerous initiatives at our plants around the globe to reduce waste, reuse materials, and recycle every scrap of eligible material. We are integrating sustainability into our business decisions on a daily basis.
At Pelican it is our mission to protect what you value, and this includes the environment around us.
Our products stand the test of time and help eliminate the need for single use products and packaging. Our cases and lights are recyclable. We hold our ethics and quality control to the highest standard. We’ve undertaken projects to increase recycled content, recycle or reuse waste, and save energy and water.
Sustainability means we continue delivering high quality products in ways that help protect your future.
We’ve identified goals that shape the future of Pelican’s sustainable development, including putting safety and fairness first, valuing our communities, enhancing the recyclability and reusability of our products, and promoting resource efficiency.
As Pelican continues to participate in initiatives that support sustainable operations, philanthropic efforts, and ethics and compliance, we feel it is important to link our sustainability strategy to global efforts- particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were developed to create a more peaceful, just, and healthier planet by 2030.
Based on our work, we have identified the following six SDGs where we can contribute the most positive impact:
We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment in which all employees actively support and participate in achieving company-wide safety initiatives.
We maintain the goal of ensuring that every operation within Pelican produces an output of superior value with the aim to continually improve product quality, business processes, and personnel responsibilities.
We are focused on the design and manufacturing of durable, reusable products and to minimizing negative impacts on the environments where our production takes place.
We are committed to sustainable operations through recycling, waste reduction and energy conservation programs.
We value integrity and honesty while conducting our business ethically and we hold ourselves and our suppliers to high standards.
We build relationships to support sustainability, provide aid for global climate disasters, and strengthen local communities.
We manufacture high-performance products while re-using resources to take less from the planet and deliver more to our customers and communities.
From lighting to waste, we have already begun implementing projects that reduce energy, water, and divert waste from landfills.
Our values are reflected in our conduct. We are committed to operating our business ethically and with fairness and human decency, and concern for environmental sustainability.
Our philanthropy program has been integral to our value system since the beginning of our company. Protecting all that you value includes those safeguarding our communities & environment.
Pelican BioThermal participated in a One Tree Planted project from June 1st – August 31st, 2020 to plant trees at nine sites across the south west of Western Australia. We contributed a portion to the total of 51,241 trees that were planted for the project.
"Corporate partners are the backbone of our relief work. For More than four decades, we've relied on the generosity of businesses which step up and donate supplies when they are most critical for disaster relief in under-served, overlooked communities across our country and around the world. We are so grateful for the support of Pelican Products, which for many years has repeatedly provided OpUSA with stores of in-kind materials that are useful in disaster zones as communities begin to rebuild, recover and develope resiliency for future disasters. Without Pelican's ongoing donations and support, we would not be able to help children and families to the extent we do. We are so grateful to call Pelican a partner."
- Richard Walden, President & CEO of Operation USA
Your future is our future, and we are committed to protecting it. We plan on focusing on sustainable product innovation, partnering with non-profits, improving energy efficiency & recycling efforts, reducing waste, and continuing to provide direct relief and product donations.
As we move forth we look forward to sharing our strategy & journey with you.
Roughly 33,615 seedlings were planted at Lake Toolibin, an area that provides important habitat for several migratory bird species and plays a very important role in maintaining ground water levels lower than the lake itself. Ground water in this area is saline, but Lake Toolibin is the only freshwater lake system left in the Western Australian Wheatbelt where all other wetlands have been affected by secondary salinity. In addition, Lake Toolibin provides community benefit through passive recreation activities such as bush walking, picnics and bird watching.
The other plantings are taking place primarily on private land to create and improve habitat for threatened species, including the endangered western ringtail possum. These private properties are registered with the Land for Wildlife program, which is a scheme run by the seven Natural Resource Management regions across Western Australian and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
