Lyndon Faulkner, President and CEO of Pelican Products Inc., recently addressed students at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Recognized for his current success at Pelican Products as well as his roles in launching numerous technologies including the Compact Disc (CD), Digital Video Disc (DVD), and Microsoft XBOX®, Faulkner was invited by lecturer Thomas Layton to participate in a business review exercise at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
“It was enjoyable to impart real-world experiences that students will most certainly face in today’s business economy,” shared Faulkner.
For the exercise, graduate students review and dissect a case study detailing the history and current business model of an anonymous business. The Pelican case study was written by a senior case writer who had the opportunity to visit the company’s headquarters and get an insider’s view from top executives regarding the company’s new leadership (Faulkner), growth, diversification, expansion and future plans among other topics. Following an extensive review of the case study and peer debate, students are then able to hear directly from the company leaders.
Faulkner spoke to students on the topic of business and product innovation, and shared the company’s strategy for future growth. The exercise offered the students practical business insight unachievable from books alone. “Hearing Stanford Business students’ logical and thoughtful discussion of business practices makes me optimistic about the future of our workforce,” Faulkner said.
