
Indice IP
Les indices IP (« Ingress Protection » (protection contre la pénétration)) sont définis dans la norme internationale EN 60529 et évaluent le degré de protection fourni par les boîtiers électriques contre l'intrusion de solides et de liquides (objets, particules, poussière, eau, etc.).
Plus la valeur de chaque chiffre est élevée, plus la protection est élevée.

1 | Protected against solid objects greater than 50mm in size, like a hand |
2 | Protected against solid objects greater than 12.5mm in size, like a finger |
3 | Protected against solid objects greater than 2.5mm in size, like a screwdriver |
4 | Protected against solid objects greater than 1mm in size, like a thick wire |
5 | Dust protected. Limited ingress of dust permitted. Will not interfere with operation of the equipment |
6 | Dust tight. No ingress of dust |
Liquids

7 | Water tight against the effects of temporary submersion in water. Test requires 30 minute at 1 meter depth |
