Torrance, CA -

Pelican Products, Inc., the global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced lighting systems and virtually indestructible cases will present an adventure filmmaking workshop featuring renowned filmmakers Pasquale Scaturro of Exploration Specialists, Inc. and Michael Brown of Serac Adventure Films, at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Their presentation, The Art and Challenges of Adventure Filmmaking, will be held across the street from the convention center at the Downtown Marriott in Salon F on Saturday, August 9th from 12 – 1:00 PM.

The legendary duo plans to give attendees a look into the amazing and crazy world of adventure filmmaking, where getting there is just the beginning. From the highest points on the planet to the lowest river basins in the deepest jungles, Scaturro and Brown will talk about the technical and practical challenges of protecting your equipment, getting the shot and getting back in one piece to tell the tale.

As a world renowned adventurer, expedition leader and filmmaker, Pasquale Scaturro is one of the most successful and accomplished mountain and river travelers in the world. He has explored the far reaches of the planet for over 20 years and is founder and president of Exploration Specialists, an international exploration company.  He has filmed numerous rafting and mountaineering projects for ESPN, Turner Television, MacGillivray Freeman Films, MSNBC, MSN, PBS, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, and OrbitaMax.

Celebrated director Michael Brown is a pioneer of adventure filmmaking and has received over forty international film festival and industry awards, including three national Emmys from five nominations. He founded Serac Adventure Films in 1992. Brown has scaled the summit of Mount Everest four times from two different routes—once while shooting and directing Farther Than The Eye Can See about blind climber Erik Weihenmayer's historic ascent. The acclaimed film marked the first time a high-definition (HD) video camera was brought to the mountain's peak. His most recent summit in 2007 was to co-direct MacGillivray Freeman Films' Return to Everest in 3D IMAX - Outside the Himalaya, his experience ranges from making first kayak descents of wild rivers in places like Bhutan and Chile to bagging remote summits on all seven continents. In addition to producing his own films, Brown has worked on numerous projects for National Geographic Television, NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, OLN the BBC, Rush HD, PBS and the Discovery Channel.

“It’s our distinct privilege to present these two amazing filmmakers,” said Kevin Murphy, Director of Marketing and Advertising for Pelican Products. “Their combined wealth of knowledge will make for a truly engaging experience for Show exhibitors and attendees alike.”
