In his wide-ranging responsibilities as Vice President of Finance, Mearns utilizes more than 20 years of financial management experience to drive major domestic and international growth for Pelican on five continents.

Mearns joined Pelican in mid-2006 as Director of Financial Planning and was responsible for the financial planning function for Pelican. Additionally he was instrumental in the implementation and ongoing evolution of the company's current annual budget and financial forecasting process.

During his tenure his role steadily expanded to include international tax planning and risk management. He has also played a key role in the acquisitions of Pelican Australia, Advanced Area Lighting Group and their nearest case competitor, Hardigg Industries. Most recently, he managed crucial financialdetails in Pelican's purchase of the leading Australian rotational molder Trimcast. He has also been deeply involved in Pelican's financing activities over the past few years.

Prior to joining Pelican, Mearns served in senior management roles for privately held firms as well as management roles for the following Fortune 500 companies: SunAmerica, Inc, The Walt Disney Company and The Weyerhaeuser Company. He also worked in the audit practice of PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Mearns is a certified public accountant in the state of California. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
