PELICAN, COLEMAN POWERMATE AND TEAM PRODUCTS INT’L SETTLE INFRINGEMENT ISSUE

TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA – Pelican Products, Inc., the Torrance, California maker of high quality flashlights and protective equipment cases, has reached an agreement in a trademark infringement dispute with Coleman Powermate, and its licensee, Team Products International (TPI). By this agreement the parties acknowledged Pelican’s trade dress rights and Federal trade mark registration in the stylized “look” of Pelican’s case line. Pelican’s unique “dual band” design and other features of its cases are registered trademarks. TPI and Coleman have changed the look of their product in order to clearly distinguish the look of their products from Pelican’s registered “dual band” design.

“Both Coleman and Team were very cooperative after being informed of Pelican’s trade dress rights and ‘dual band’ Federal registration covering the look of our cases”, said Rick Kern, Pelican’s CFO.
