Pelican VP of Marketing Scott Ermeti
Addresses 2007 Singapore Reverse Logistics Conference
Receives Award For Best Booth At Show
TORRANCE, CA – November 14, 2007 - Preaching the gospel of Repeat Use Packaging was the order of the day when Scott Ermeti, Pelican™ Products, Vice President of Marketing and International Business, addressed the 2007 Reverse Logistics Conference in Singapore and accepted the award for the best booth.
Mr. Ermeti’s presentation centered on how Pelican Products is seeking to make the traditional Supply Chain process greener by changing the way sensitive equipment is shipped. “Our cases are on the forefront of a great trend toward a greener, more sustainable supply chain,” said Scott Ermeti. “And since they are infinitely reusable, it’s gratifying to know that our cases will be around for generations to come as part of the environmental solution, not the problem.”
Renowned for the development and manufacture of nearly indestructible cases for protecting expensive equipment, the company is providing their customers with Repeat Use Packaging – a reusable shipping container solution which has less impact on the environment while saving money and better protecting merchandise.
This is especially important with the growth of the technology industry, as items like computer equipment are packaged in materials that typically cannot be reused, separated, or recycled. Multiple-material packaging impedes recycling and some materials, such as polystyrene, are generally made without recycled content and may be non-recyclable. As a result, disposal of this packaging is costly and further taxes the landfill system.
A recent study showed that a mere five pounds of waste was generated by 250 shipments inside a repeat use Pelican Protector™ Case (two cubic feet). This was in stark contrast to the 375 pounds of waste generated by the equivalent amount of cardboard boxes necessary for the same number of shipments.
