Torrance, CA -

SKY RADIO: Our audience is air travelers and they all know that being on the road can put a lot of wear and tear on your traveling gear. That is your laptop, your iPod, all that high tech camera stuff. And your equipment survival and longevity depends on the case you put them in.

There’s a word for the kind of case that’ll preserve your valuable best. That word is “Pelican”. Lyndon Faulkner, CEO of Pelican Products and he joins us now on Sky Radio.

Lyndon, how you doing?

LYNDON FAULKNER: Hi Dennis. Thanks for having me.

SKY RADIO: Well, Lyndon –- Most people know you make rugged cases for a wide variety of possessions and equipment. Maybe they don’t know what makes Pelican cases different so tell us how tough the cases really are.

LYNDON FAULKNER: Well, a great example is actually a true story of a dive instructor in South East Asia. He lost everything when the 2004 tsunami hit. About a week later he received a call from the Indonesian navy after they had recovered his Pelican case floating in the ocean. The contents including his camera, laptop computer, his equipment all work fine and there was no damage to the Pelican case either.

SKY RADIO: That’s a great story! Your customers tell you about these events?

LYNDON FAULKNER: Yes! We also hear from a team of scientists exploring the Arctic. They were trapped when ice flows closed in on their kayaks. They recovered the crushed kayaks and were amazed to find their communication gear safe in their Pelican cases. So our cases are the toughest in the world. And to attest to that we’ve collected dozens of stories like this and photographs which you can find on Pelican.com.

SKY RADIO: Well, in the Arctic you don’t get second chances. That’s a great story. Describe some of these unusual uses for your cases.

LYNDON FAULKNER: Our smallest case the i1010 protects your iPod® from getting crushed. It has an external mini-jack that lets you listen to music while protecting it. Right the way through to our bigger cases such as the 1560 which are used to move more sensitive medical equipment around the world. In fact more and more of our cases are replacing cardboard as repeat use shipping containers.

SKY RADIO: And if they can survive an avalanche it will probably do okay in the airport. The best thing about the Pelican cases as I understand however is the guarantee. Spell it out for me.

LYNDON FAULKNER: Sure. “You Break It, We Replace It…Forever”™. That’s been our guarantee for thirty years. And in a way it’s what drives us to build such tough products. If you have a problem with a Pelican case or a flashlight, give us a call and we’ll take care of it.

SKY RADIO: Now, while we’ve got a moment, tell us about your rugged and reliable flashlights.

LYNDON FAULKNER: Pelican is defining the next generation of LED lighting. Because LEDs offer up to 100,000 hours of light it’s the kind of technology Pelican is very excited to be investing in.  But my job is pretty easy compared to the professionals who use our flashlights. Firemen, the armed forces, policemen count on our flashlights. These people are putting themselves in harms way and at Pelican we feel responsible to build a flashlight that they can count on.

SKY RADIO: Not to mention cases you can count on as well. Lyndon, thanks so much for joining us here on Sky Radio.

LYNDON FAULKNER: Thanks Dennis.
