DIY Instructions for Pelican Pick N Pluck Foam

Submitted by on July 3, 2013 – 6:50 am2 Comments

Almost all Pelican cases come with our exclusive Pick N Pluck foam. Designing and executing a custom design for a Pelican case using the Pick N Pluck foam initially intimidates many of our customers, but it’s really quite easy.

We recently came across a great series of photos shared by Ohana Films, a Hawaiian video product company, illustrating the Pick N Pluck process. With their permission, we’re breaking down the Pick N Pluck process into 5 simple steps:

Step 1: Purchase. To ensure that you select the Pelican case that will fulfill your gear protection needs, we recommend using the Pelican case calculator. Lay out the items you’d like to store in the case and measure around them. Enter these dimensions in our case calculator to find out what model Pelican case will work best.

Step 2: Plan. Lay the goods out on the bed of Pick N Pluck foam. This might be the most important stage of the Pick N Pluck process, so make sure to play with the layout a little for best results.

Step 3: Pin. Use chalk, tape, or pins, as shown here, to outline the items as you laid them out.

Step 4: Pluck. Pluck out the square cubes according to your plan, but be sure to keep the ½-inch base of foam (included with the case) underneath intact for added protection.

Step 5: Play. Enjoy the peace of mind of Pelican protection!
