MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Pelican has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer who will have the responsibility for designing lights, cases and other products from design concept through manufacture. Heavy emphasis will be placed on managing multiple projects from start to finish, leading efforts of cross-functional teams to release new products on time, developing appropriate test plans and test methods, analyzing and resolving quality assurance issues, and recommending procedures resulting in cost savings, maximization of production, and quality improvement.

Successful candidates must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years product design and project management experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, presentation and negotiation skills, theoretical and practical knowledge of design and mechanical engineering concepts, experience in injection molded plastics design, tooling and assembly methods, and design experience of low cost, high volume, high quality products. Must have proficiency in 3D solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred) and FEA (CosmosWorks preferred).Occasional overseas travel is required.
